Sessions, wedding consults, proofing, processing orders ….. then add in 4 nightly trips to the Orangeville Swimming Pools, piano lessons, boxing (Erin has taken up the sport – prepping her for the dating years homework, the kids’ social lives ……. then try and fit in there somewhere everything else that happens – Life is busy.

A good friend once told me that in parenting “the days are long but the years are short”.  I am certainly noticing that these days.  With Erin 11 and Caitlyn turning 8 in two days I am doing my best to cherish our moments; be engaged when they need me and hold the invisible safety net while letting them try their wings.  I learn something new from them every day.  Although these lessons can sometimes be challenging I am grateful for it all.

This past mother’s day we made a decision to keep it simple.  Like most parents, Dave and I are always on the verge of exhaustion.  Balancing work, household and parenting duties is complicated and the four of us rarely take the time to just be.  Sunday we did just that.  After a battle over who would have the honour of delivering my morning coffee a calmness settled into the day.  My favourite part was reading in my sunporch with the wind in the trees, the sun shining through the windows and listening to the girls laugh, giggle and splash in the pool.  (It might have even lulled me into a nap

I found myself thinking how extraordinary it is what you can hear when you silence all of the external (and internal stuff .

Happy Mother’s Day

I love my dandelion bouquets  I will take them over roses anyday!!

But let’s not neglect the treasured little buddies in our life, whether they are scaley, feathery or furry.  Yesterday I took Riley one of our guinea pigs in to have her long neglected nails cut.  It made me think of how important our pets are no matter how big or small.  So I am pleased to announce a Pet Photo Contest at Reflections by Patty.

This is how it works.

1.  Send me your pet photo with a little blurb of why your pet would like a portrait

2.  I will post all of the submissions on my facebook page on Monday May 14th.

3.  You will have one week to get people to vote for your pet by “liking” that photo.

4.  The top 3 pets to get the most votes shall win a pet session photo session with me.

The Girls wanted pictures of them with Grandma for Mother’s Day

I met this fabulous family last weekend for a session.  They booked a session as a gift for their amazing mom.  Grandma was beaming – it was wonderful to see.

What an amazing 2012 this is turning out to be.  If only because we had two weeks of June in March.  Erin was actually sent home from school with heat stroke on March 20th!!! Yes, MARCH 20th!!!  I had to double check to make sure that I wasn’t losing my mind when the school called.

The year is booking up quickly.  Spring is almost fully booked and summer and fall are filling as well.  If you are thinking of a session claim those dates fast to avoid disappointment!  I recently was at the Orangeville Your Dream Day Bridal show and had a fabulous time meeting all of the pending brides/grooms/and family/friend support systems.  As well as the other vendors.  It is wonderful to chat shop with everyone. The wedding calendar books up very quickly don’t miss out!

With spring comes springtime mini sessions.

quick photos and have some fun with the session.

It’s that time of year again.  The March Break weather was phenomenal and the kids are a little crazy and a tad excited. Time to shake off the winter cobwebs and have some fun.  What better way to celebrate that sunshiney energy then with a little photo session with Reflections by Patty.

This is how it works – you have 20 minutes to get silly and have some fun and I will capture those gorgeous smiles.  Only offered on the weekend of April 21-22, 2012. 80$ including taxes.
